At least for the time being, the majority of my activity will be on Tumblr. It's the direction this blog had been going, and I'm contemplating moving the URL over there from Blogger, depending on how I like it in the long run.

Project Cielo; Croce d'Aune

I had an idea. I wanted to tell the story of Tulio Campagnolo's journey up a mountain in Italy, and into the history books. I wanted to fictionalize the loss that would lead to the invention of the quick release skewer with a little bit of creative writing from Mr. Campagnolo's perspective. The point of all this was to add to the documentation of this Project, for me to find a unique way to tell you all that I had purchased Campagnolo Record skewers, because after all, they invented them.

Then I opened Issue 4 (the Italian Issue) of Peloton Magazine to page 094 and found Jered Gruber's story on the same subject. It included words from Tulio's son, Valentino, and incredible photos from their ride up the very mountain pass that set it all into motion 90 years ago. Needless to say, my heart sunk a little, but it did make me feel a little better that I had a similar idea, although my execution would not have been quite as thorough (an interview with the son AND a ride up the mountain?! C'mon!).

What an incredible piece to read. Kudos, Mr. Gruber.
