Proposal to this Friday's NYC Critical Mass
Despite the recent ruling of a federal judge in New York City, which requires groups of 50 or more cyclists to obtain a parade permits for rides, riders in NYC plan to go ahead with this Friday's scheduled Critical Mass.
My proposal to the "organizers" of this month's ride is simple: break the group up into smaller groups of 49 or less.
You will be playing by the rules they have laid out for you and will show them that as disruptive as they may think a Critical Mass ride is, one group of 490 cyclists is FAR less disruptive than 10 groups of 49 cyclists (all heading into different directions, of course).
I also have a couple questions to anyone with more familiarity with the scene and law in NYC.

- How difficult will it be to obtain the required parade permit?
- If obtaining the permit is feasible, what additional rights do you secure with it? Police presence? Route closure?

Looking For Accessories...
I have been using my old Timbuk2 cell holder for years; on my Timbuk2, my Chrome and the new Vandal bag. It's fine, but I was still half-assedly looking around for a potential replacement because I just was. Nothing really jumped out at me for my phone but I sorta want this now.
Also, this monthly coffee program from IMBA is pretty cool.

CX Help Help Help
So I've decided that cyclocross is something I need to do. It's been on my radar as awesome for something like a decade now, since it was first explained to a young and naive me in Milwaukee (a race in the same park that the closeted politicians picked up their anonymous gay sex partners at.)
I even commute on a CX bike, but I never really thought of myself as a "racer," although I have raced MTB before...
