Update on Anaheim Cyclist Fatality

Earlier this week, I wrote the Anaheim Police in regards to the fatal accident involving a 9 year old cyclist and a Ford pickup. My purpose was to voice concern over the legality of the truck's size:



To quote their response:

"The vehicle involved in this tragic incident has been impounded and inspected by traffic investigators. At this time it appears that the vehicle, although raised, meets the standards set forth by California law."

This is just plain too bad. That truck is clearly unsafe, if the driver cannot see a 9 year old riding a bike in front of it. But if it is legal, it's legal. We can only hope that the driver proceeds with extra caution in that truck in the future.

As far as my other concern about no citations or charges having been filed, they didn't want to comment any further, as the investigation is still open.
